Zabrina A. Bakar ...

..... is giving deep thoughts on what Benjamin Franklin once said,“Never confuse motion with action.” Am I merely moving or do I have directions?

..... smiles reading an anon Birthday quote, 'You're not 37, you're 17 with 20 years experience.' So, age is just a number? Totally and absolutely!

..... ponders what Fosdick said, 'He who chooses the beginning of a road chooses the place it leads to.' My question is-where is my road leading towards?

..... ponders on what Hubbard said,'To avoid criticism - do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.' But people still criticize if one does nothing too, right?

..... absolutely loves this proverb, 'Fire in the heart sends smoke into the head.' Wow, very deep indeed...

Friday Reflection:Secret Twenty Five from Life is an Open Secret Ramadan Special: Motivational Story about Celebrating 'Eid ul-Fitr in Month of Syawal

Bismillah

As Salaamu 'alaykum and peace to all,

Friday Reflection:Secret Twenty Five from Life is an Open Secret Ramadan Special: Motivational and Inspirational Story about Celebrating 'Eid ul-Fitr in Month of Syawal

Jumaat Mubarak everyone!

Today, we are at the 28th of Ramadan 1430H. This means Ramadan is leaving us really soon.

How has your Ramadan been up to now? As for me, it was a challenge right from Day 1. But I have hopes that Allah took mercy on my soul, took pity of my weaknesses and still pardon me at the end of this Ramadan, ameen. And I pray the same for you too, my brothers and sisters.

And as how there is always the other side of the coin, when daytime leaves nighttime arrives and how when something goes up it must come down- when something goes, there will be another thing that awaits, right?

That is how life goes for us..

And with the leaving of holy and blessed month of Ramadan, awaiting us is the month of Syawal, alhamdulillah. This is the month when Allah has allowed us to celebrate our success and victory in withstanding His test and command made upon us, you agree? Even if the command is against our natural habits like eating and drinking, alhamdulillah.

Of course, there are always definite reasonings and benefits of why Allah has command us to fast, right? But that is not the point in today's post.

Today's post is all about celebrating success and victory of Muslims against their own nafs, inshaAllah...

Therefore, for Friday's Reflection Story this week, I am posting the last story from my latest book: Life is an Open Secret- Ramadan Special for your reading pleasure. Hopefully, inshaAllah, we will all benefit from it.

And as usual, if you want to share this story, please share it in its entirety! :)

Specially from me to you,

Secret Twenty Five - 'Eid ul Fitr

~ A Champion Bull Starts From Birth ~ Luyia Western Kenya Proverb

That day I woke up at my usual hour with a smile. Another day alive, another day living and another day breathing, SubhanAllah and Alhamdulillah, I whispered to myself.
I absolutely love waking up during such wee hour in the morning. Nothing can beat morning time for me.

I remembered how I accidentally irritated a few of my friends by being so chirpy, bubbly and happy so early in the morning!

“Sorry, you guys, I am a morning person, I can't help it!”, I said to them as they groggily and sleepily took their towels making their way to the ladies for their morning bath.

I don't know exactly what it is about mornings that I love so much.

Perhaps it is the silence, the stillness, the calmness, the tranquility and the quietness that totally gives clarity, peace and serenity to my heart, mind and soul, Alhamdulillah.

And I happen to agree with Emme Woodhull-Bäche when she poetically said,

I love the sweet smell of dawn –
our unique daily opportunity to smell time,
to smell opportunity -
each morning being, a new beginning.

Yes, each morning is truly a new beginning, you agree?

Totally!

As I continued doing what I usually do in the morning, I suddenly heard a melodic voice, saying the beautiful, peaceful and soothing words that acknowledge the Greatness of One God, One Lord, Allah the Al Mighty, subhan Allah.

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar,
laa ilaaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar,
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa Lillaahi'l-hamd

(Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, there is no god except Allah, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great , Allah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allah).

This only denotes one thing- First day of Shawwal is here.

SubhanAllah, subhanAllah, subhanAllah…

Alhamdulillah, Ya Rabbi, for allowing me to taste the blessings of Shawwal again, for the umpteenth time…

Indeed, the sound of Takbir, glorifying our Lord has never failed to bring tears to my eyes, deliver serenity and peace to my heart and put a smile to my face….

I remembered the Words of Allah in His noble Book,

(He wants you to complete the same number (of days) and that must magnify Allah (takbir) for having guided you and so that you may be grateful to Him.) (Al-Baqarah 2:185)

Allahu akbar… Allahu akbar… Allahu akbar….

Ya Allah, indeed I am your grateful servant Ya Rabbi… for all Your countless blessings and guidance to me, my loved ones and all mankind…

Immediately, I started thinking. What should I do now this very first day of `Eid?

I 'scanned' through the invisible checklist in my head:

Bathe – checked
Look my best- checked
Takbir – checked and on-going
Perform `Eid Prayer– preparing

Did I forget anything else?

Oh yes, I remembered one more thing to do- to eat dates before going off to the mosque as how my beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do,

"Allah's Apostle never proceeded (for the Prayer) on the Day of `Eid al-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas also narrated: The Prophet used to eat odd number of dates." (Al-Bukhari)

SubhanAllah, amazing, isn't it?

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ate dates before going to the mosque, my friends.

Dates! Not cookies, not cakes and sure not biscuits too!

Immediately, I went to the kitchen, opened up my refrigerator and grabbed hold of those healthy yummy dates.

“Let me see… one, two, three, four and five. That's enough for now. Odd numbers - just like what the Prophet advised,” I whispered to myself, smiling as I know I am following exactly as what he (peace be upon him) used to do 1429 years ago, alhamdulillah…

As I write my last post for this Ramadan Special, I would like to wish all my brothers and sisters the greetings of Taqaballahu minna wa minkum’ [may Allah accept (our deeds) from you and us] as being practiced by the companion of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as below,

Ibn Hajr Al-`Asqalani (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “We have related in “Mahamiliyat” with a chain of narration that is hasan, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr who said: 'When the companions of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) met on the day of `Eid, they would say to each other, 'Taqaballahu minna wa minkum (may Allah accept from you and us ).” (Fath al Bari 2:446)

So, again my dearest friends, 'Taqaballahu minna wa minkum’ [may Allah accept (our deeds) from you and us].

May Allah accept our deeds from you and from us, Ameen…

And as I reflect on the first day of my graduation from my 30-days of Intensive Training Camp, and with the release of my biggest avowed enemy ready to ‘pounce’ on me anytime now, I pray to Allah that my Self-Restraining Training has benefited me and has changed me into the Zabrina 2.0 version I so much want to be.

At the same time, I pray that Allah, my Lord, my Creator the Most Merciful will continue to bless me with strength, willpower and determination befitting of the Graduate of Ramadan Class 1429H, ameen.

And lastly, let us all recite this beautiful words that could only be recited twice a year, as the sign of thankfulness for all the He has give us, Alhamdulillah. And one of them is today…, a beautiful Takbir and Tahmid glorifying our Lord, our Creator, our One and Only God, the Almighty, the Most Great, the Most Magnificent Allah subhanahu wa taala, mashaAllah…

Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar,
laa ilaaha ill-Allah, Allahu akbar,
Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, wa Lillaahi'l-hamd

(Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great, Allah is Most Great,
there is no god except Allah, Allah is Most Great,
Allah is Most Great , Allah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allah).

Favourite Videoclip: Hasbi Rabbi jallallah by Sami Yusuf: Motivational and Inspirational Song about Surrendering to Allaah, Lord of the Universe

Bismillah

As Salaamu 'alaykum and peace to all,

Favourite Videoclip: Hasbi Rabbi jallallah (My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah) by Sami Yusuf: Motivational and Inspirational Song about Surrendering to One and Only God, Lord of the Universe

That day I was sitting by the window looking out unto the street.

I absolutely love to observe life around me especially when I get to observe from a place no one else can see me. You know, one-way-mirror kind of thing!

A Chinese Proverb once said,

“The best cure for drunkenness is whilst sober, to observe a drunken person”

After reading this proverb the first time, I could not help but asked myself- could my love of observation of life around me truly is my way to cure my own 'drunkness' in my own life?

Allahu 'alaam...

Anyway, from where I was, I saw the trees that has leaves of various shades of green, I heard the chirping of the birds, I saw squirrels jumping from a branch to another, I felt the soft gentle breeze kissing my face, I inhaled the fresh cool air, I saw little kids happily hopping around, I saw mummies lovingly pushing the strollers of their babies, I saw teenagers giggling happily with friends, I saw an elderly couple walking holding hands, I heard people talking in languages I dont understand, I saw a man beeping his car and I saw another man just got out of his cab, I saw a car patrol passed by, I saw a student carrying his books, I saw a lady with high heels walking really fast, I saw a few fully loaded trash can awaiting for the garbage truck to pick up their content, I saw a kite got stuck on a tree that has beautiful shades of green ...

SubhanAllah... I am truly amazed of the things that are going on around me.

And of course, each of these things runs its own episodes of life, right?

The trees, the birds, the squirrels, the breeze, the cool air, the kids, the mummies, the teenagers, the elderly couple, the people talking etc... all of them...

They all run their own lives- individually!

That very thought made me feel awed in amazement of how gazillion of things are happening all at the same time- in one second, in one wink, in one moment.

SubhanAllah! Indeed, that is the greatness of my Lord, Allah, the Al Mighty, the Creator of this world and all its content, the Lord of the Universe...

I remembered reading how Ibn Al-Qayyim described Allah's Greatness. He said,

He governs the affairs of the various kingdoms and He commands and forbids, creates, sustains, gives death, gives life, gives power, strips power (to and from whom He wills) and alternates the night and day. He gives varying fortunes to people and alternates governments (and states), destroying some and bringing some into existence. His Command and Power are dominant in the heavens and their zones, the earth and all that which is on and in it, in the seas and in the air. His Knowledge has encompassed everything and He counted everything. He hears all types of voices and they do not confuse Him. Rather, He hears each voice in its distinct language and need, and no voice will make Him busy from fulfilling the need of another, and no need will ever escape His Perfect Knowledge (and His Power to deliver). He does not become bored because of the many needs of those who need. His Sight encompasses all that which there is. He sees the movement of a black ant on a barren rock during a dark night. To Him, the Unseen is uncovered end the secret is secret no more, "Whosoever is in the heavens and on Earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring Forth (such as giving honor to some, disgrace to some, life to (some, death to some, etc.)." [55:29] He forgives an evil deed, makes depression vanish and brings reprieve from disasters, relief for whoever needs it, wealth for the poor, guidance for the misguided, light for the lost, help for he who is desperate, fullness for the hungry, cover for the barely clothed, cure for the ill and ease for he who suffers. He accepts he who repents, gives reward for he who does good, gives aid for he who was dealt with injustice, destroys an arrogant person, covers mistakes, gives safety after fear end elevates some people and humiliates others. If those who inhabit His heavens and His earth and all those whom He created, whether mankind or the Jinns, had hearts similar to the most pious heart, His Kingdom will not increase. If all His creation, whether mankind or the Jinns, had hearts similar to the heart of the most wicked heart, this will not decrease from His Kingdom. Also, if all those who inhabit His heavens and His earth, all mankind and all the Jinns, the dead and the living, stand up on one strip of land and each asks Him for his need, and He then fulfils their needs, this will not decrease from what He has a bit. He is the First, nothing is before Him, the Last, nothing is after Him, the Most High, nothing is above Him, and the Most Near, nothing is nearer than Him. He, Exalted and Ever High as He is, is the Best Whom one can and should remember, the only One Who deserves to be worshiped and thanked, the Kindest of all those who own and the Most generous of all those who are asked to give. He is the King Who has no partner, the One Who has no competitor, the Samad (Self-Sufficient) Who has no offspring, and the Ever High, none like unto Him. Everything perishes save His Face and every kingship is bound to perish except His. He will only be obeyed by His Leave, and His Knowledge uncovers all disobedience to Him. When He is obeyed, He thanks for it, and when He is disobeyed, He grants forgiveness (for those who truly repent to Him). Every punishment from Him is just and every bounty is a grace. He is the Closest Witness and the Nearest One with His Perfect Care. He controls the forelocks of everything and has the full records of all deeds end the books of all ages. The hearts are unmasked to Him and the secret is unveiled. His giving and punishing is merely a Command, "Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, ‘Be, and it is!’" [36:82].

So, in my effort to remind of myself of The Greatness of my Lord, I want to share with you one of my favourite pop singer- Sami Yusuf in his song entitled Hasbi Rabbi jallallah (My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah).

I hope you like the song as much as I do... ameen...

Hasbi Rabbi jallallah (My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah)by Sami Yusuf

Hasbi Rabbi by Sami Yusuf from album "My Ummah".

Lyrics:
Hasbi Rabbi

O Allah the Almighty
Protect me and guide me
To your love and mercy
Ya Allah dont deprive me
From beholding your beauty
O my Lord accept this plea

CHORUS:
Hasbi rabbi jallallah
Ma fi qalbi ghayrullah
My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah
There is nothing in my heart except Allah

'Ala Nabi, sallallah
La ilaha illallah
[May the blessings and the peace of Allah be upon him (Muhammad)]
There is no deity but God.

CHORUS
Hasbi rabbi jallallah
Ma fi qalbi ghayrullah
My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah
There is nothing in my heart except Allah

Urdu/Hindi:
Wo tanha kaun hai
Badshah wo kaun hai
Meherba wo kaun hai
Who is the only One?
Who is the King?
Who is the Merciful?

Kya unchi shan hai
Uskey sab nishan hai
Sab dilon ki jan hai
Who is the most praised and benevolent?
Whatever you see in this world is His sign
Hes the love of every soul

CHORUS
Hasbi rabbi jallallah
Ma fi qalbi ghayrullah
My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah
There is nothing in my heart except Allah

Turkish:
Affeder gunahi
Alemin padisahi
Yureklerin penahi
He is the Forgiver of all sins
He is the King of the universe
He is the Refuge of all hearts

Isit Allah derdimi, bu ahlarimi
Rahmeyle, bagisla gunahlarimi
Hayreyle hem aksam hem sabahlarimi
O Allah hear my sorrows and my sighs
Have mercy and pardon my sins
Bless my night and days

CHORUS
Hasbi rabbi jallallah
Ma fi qalbi ghayrullah
My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah
There is nothing in my heart except Allah

Arabic:
Ya rabbal alamin
Salli ala Tahal amin
Fi kulli waqtin wa hin
O Lord of the worlds
Send peace and blessings
On Ta-ha the trustworthy
In every time and at every instant

Imla qalbi bil yaqin
Thabbitni ala hadhad din
Waghfir li wal muslimin
Fill my heart with conviction
Make me steadfast on this Religion
And forgive me and all the believers

CHORUS
Hasbi rabbi jallallah
Ma fi qalbi ghayrullah
My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah
There is nothing in my heart except Allah

I absolutely love the lyrics of this song. It made me reflect, think, ponder and make lots of supplications to Him, my Lord, alhamdulillah.

Confucius once said,

“Words are the voice of the heart”

And this song, is really the voice of my heart. And I pray to Allah with humility that it will stay this way till the day I exhale my last breathe, ameen...

Hasbi rabbi jallallah
Ma fi qalbi ghayrullah
My Lord is enough for me, Glory be to Allah
There is nothing in my heart except Allah

Friday Reflection: Secret Twenty from Life is an Open Secret Ramadan Special: Motivational Story about Seeking Night of Power during Ramadan

Bismillah

As Salaamu 'alaykum and peace to all,

Friday Reflection: Secret Twenty from Life is an Open Secret Ramadan Special: Motivational and Inspirational Story about Seeking Night of Power during Ramadan

My Friday's gift (September 11th 2009) to all my readers and friends out there is Secret 20 (from 25 secrets of Ramadan) from my latest book: Life is an Open Secret- Ramadan Special. Please share this story with your family and friends, and as usual, kindly share them in its entirety!

Salaams and Love always,
Sis Zabrina

Secret Twenty

~ Four things come not back. The spoken word, the sped arrow, the past life and the neglected opportunity ~ Arabian Proverb

Just the other day, I was driving when I suddenly saw many cars on the street carrying a common flag with stickers bearing different numbers on both sides of their doors and car hoods.

Ahhh… treasure hunters!

I smiled as I observed how the drivers were driving slowly but in full alert nevertheless, and their passengers had their eyes switching between the streets in front of them and the maps they had in their hands. Occasionally, I saw hands flying everywhere, eagerly waving and fingers pointing to certain directions as if giving instructions to their drivers.

It was clear that they are all on a very important 'mission' here.

They reminded me of what Bill Clinton used to say,

Keep your eyes on the prize and don't turn back.

Yes, don't turn back if we want to get the prize, right? Be focused and stay focused on the goal that we have.

And never turn back or quit.

Now, these treasure hunters sure looked like they took heed of President Clinton's advice. They were charging like Spanish Fighting Bulls that have matadors waving their cloths in front of them!

And that was why I have always loved looking at these participants of treasure hunt competitions.

By just using the clues provided, they enthusiastically scout the designated areas with the final goal of getting their hands on that one priceless ultimate reward that is being offered by the organizers.

Suddenly it hit me.

Today, at this very moment, I have now technically just entered the exciting once a year event of The Greatest Treasure Hunt myself!

Yeay!!

And this is no normal event my friends, as it has been going on every single year without fail for the past 1429 years!

What? 1429 years?

Yup, you better believe it. 1429 years!

And the entry to this treasure hunt is automatic too. As long as we hold a passport that has the Muslim Seal of Shahadah stamped on it, we are in!

Great, huh?

And you know something more exciting?

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) participated in this hunt too. Yes, he did; just like you and me.

Now, are you curious to know what this event is?

Here is a clue from our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who once told us,

"Seek the Night of Power on the last ten nights of Ramadan… “ (Al-Bukhari)

A-ha! The answers are all over the place in just this one hadith, alhamdulillah!

If I were to be assigned to make a poster to announce this event, I think this is what I will put on the poster-

Join Us at The 1429th Annual Greatest Treasure Hunt Event of the Year!
When : Month of Ramadan
Time : Night time only
Duration : Last Ten Nights
Instruction : Search for the Night of Power

Wow, the Night of Power? What a name, you agree?

Power…. a Night full of Power… I must admit, the name sure has a very nice ummpphh to it!

Then, I got curious- why was the night named Night of Power? What is so powerful about that one particular night?

It was then when I remembered a verse from The Organiser of the event, Allah the Almighty answering my curiosity,

Truly We sent it down on the Night of Power. And what will convey to you what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. In it the angels and the Spirit descend by their Lord's authority with every ordinance. It is Peace – until the coming of the dawn. (Al-Qadr 97: 1-5)

Subhan Allah… this is very interesting indeed, you agree?

I started imagining how so much fun it would be to start searching for this Night of Power that is better than one thousand months? A night when the angels and Spirits, the citizens of the Kingdom in the sky, would come down all the way from up there and transcend to us on this earth bringing with them all ordinance and decree? And how there will be peace on earth from the moment they descend until the break of dawn…

Ya Allah… How exciting is that?

Let us ask ourselves this question- what is one thousand months?

Is that not equal to 83.4 years? Isn't that a huge, enormous and gigantic bargain for us?

You know my friends, reality check is this- many, if not most of us may not even live to that golden age of 80, you agree? Allahu 'alam.

Of course, I know some interpretations say that it doesn't mean one thousand months. But, the point is that it means that it is a very long period of time.

When and where can we find one is equal to eighty three, you agree my brothers and sisters? I cannot even start to imagine the extent of reward and virtue this night promises.

But does that matter? Does it matter if I, a servant of Allah, am unable to comprehend in totality His greatness?

What I need to know is simply that my Lord is giving away 'something miraculous' on this particular night; the gift that is ultra special.

And I, Zabrina, hereby confess that I truly love special unique gifts. Yup, I definitely do!

So, I know in my heart that I have to look for ways on how to seek for this ultra special gift.

And do you want to know what did our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did during this magnificent event to ensure that he (peace be upon him) too, received this ultra special gift?

Lady Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that,

When the last ten nights (of Ramadan) would begin, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would keep awake at night (for prayer and devotion), awaken his family and prepare himself to be more diligent in worship. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Subhan Allah… he (peace be upon him), the beloved of Allah, the one who has been guaranteed His paradise would pray and keep awake all night, deprived himself from sleep to increase his chances in getting the blessings of the Night of Power!

That ought to make me, this soul who at times by accident and at times is fully aware that she crosses the line of guidance given by her Lord; and whose days and nights are intertwined with activities that would create both her Lord’s love and anger; be more steadfast during my Tarawih Prayers and Late Night Prayers during this Ramadan, right?

Insha Allah….

I asked myself this question- if the beloved of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), strived so hard, denying himself sleep by keeping awake all night, stood in Prayers and devotion at night hoping to get Allah's pardon, hoping to be forgiven by Allah when he never did anything wrong at all as he is perfect; hoping to receive the blessings brought down during this very night, I asked myself- who am I? Who am I - this insignificant speck of a dust, who commits too many acts of wrongs and sins; who is constantly battling between desires and wants of this world verses what Allah has instructed her to do; who keeps on falling into the same hole over and over again despite knowing all along it is right there!Who at times listens to His enemy instead of Him- who am I, to think I should be on my thick comfortable cozy mattress sleeping soundly, under my warm cotton silk blanket dozing off deeply? Who am I to think that I don't need to be awake to read His words and recite His remembrance? Who am I to think that I don't need to stand on my two feet to pray to Him, to seek for His forgiveness, to beg for His mercy, to cry for all the sins I did, to plead for His love, to appeal for entrance to His Paradise, to ask from Him to fulfill all my needs, to talk to Him my Lord, my Creator, my Helper, my Beloved?

Who do I think I am, really… Who?

Astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah… Ya Allah… Ya Allah… Ya Allah….

Please forgive me, forgive me please….

As I thought about myself, and the things I have done in my life, I know that this year, I must work on it. This year I must search harder and this year I must make every effort to find this one credibly honorable night.

I must!

What about you my friends? Do we want to continue to be on the sideline, just looking and observing at the participants of this yearly event of The Greatest Treasure Hunt even though we know of its reward; even if we know we have sins like the foams of sea; or are we going jump right into it, be a player and look for this great Night, the Night of Power, the Night when all our sins will be forgiven, the night when His blessings, His mercy and His love are being sprayed and showered all over the earth until the crack of dawn….

Which one are we going to be? Which one are you going to be? And most important question for me is- which one am I going to be?

Which one?

Favourite Videoclip: A Land Called Paradise by Kareem Salama: Motivational and Inspirational Clip about Wanting to Be in Paradise

Bismillah

As Salaamu 'alaykum and peace to all,

Favourite Videoclip: A Land Called Paradise by Kareem Salama: Motivational and Inspirational Clip about Wanting to Be in Paradise

That day I was reading one of the investment magazines I subscribed to. And one of the issues in the magazine was about the investment of a precious metal called GOLD.

Yup, that yellowish metal that make many people, by many people I mean- women, and by women I really mean- ME, go ga-ga-go-go!

Honestly, I love gold. My eyes would sparkle with delight whenever I see something beautiful made of gold. Be it in the jewellery shop, glassware, door knobs or even if its on someone's fingers, neck, wrist, ankle and teeth!

Say what?

Got ya! You know I am kidding, right? About the teeth thingy, I mean...

Anyway, as I read about the potential of gold as a long term investment and how it could beat inflation, depression and recession, I suddenly remembered this hadith when our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once told us,

"There is not a tree in Paradise, except that its trunk is made of gold." [Sahih al-Jami]

SubhanAllah... Tree trunks that are made of gold? Oh my God, how amazing is that! Now, that is something I really want to see.

I cannot imagine the feeling of being able to sit under a tree, resting my back against the tree trunk that is made from GOLD.

SubhanAllah...

And as if that has not excite me enough, this verse containing the words of Allah has made my eyes twinkle and sparkle; and made my heart pumps excessive adrenaline into my system,

Allah will admit those who believe and work righteous deeds, to Gardens beneath which rivers flow: they shall be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls; and their garments there will be of silk. (Al-Hajj 22:23)

When I read that verse, my brain somehow picked up a few strings of words that it knew I love.

Ah well... what can I say, my brain knows me well!

And those words are...

... they shall be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and pearls ...

... their garments there will be of silk...

Gold, pearls and silk? Gold, pearls and silk, my brothers and sisters!

Oh, did I tell you I absolutely and totally love pearls and silk too? :))

SubhanAllah, I know that I truly and really want to have all of those my Lord. I truly do.

And that reminded me of what my beloved Messenger of Allah said to Mu'ath once,

In the famous hadith of Mu`ath ... I said O Messenger of Allah , tell me of an act which will take me into Paradise and keep me away from Hell-Fire. He said: you have asked me about a major matter, yet it easy for him for whom Allah Almighty makes it easy. You should ..., You should fast in Ramadan .... Then he (the Prophet ) said : Shall I not show you the gates of goodness ? Fasting is a shield ...[at-Tirmithi]

SubhanAllah...

And what more perfect time for me if it is not right now, you agree my friends?

This is the month of Ramadan, and fasting in Ramadan will take us all to Paradise- where tree trunks are made of gold, and we all get to wear gold, pearls and silk!

Yes, we will!

Now, let me share with you the video clip of one of my favourite country singer called Kareem Salama. And his song title?

Yes, you guessed it- A Land Called Paradise.

A Land Called Paradise by Kareem Salama

Chorus:
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
I wanna go to the valley of the King
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
Wanna see the birds fly and I wanna hear the angels

Sing the praises of my Lord so far above
As I move poetically with the struggle I fall in love
I look to the left, I look to the right, and all I gaze upon
Reveals the source of flowers, rainbows, and the dew at dawn
Some see before and some see in and some see after
I let my sight pierce the chains and see the master

Chorus:
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
I wanna go to the valley of the King
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
Wanna see the birds fly and I wanna hear the angels sing

So many times in my life, I ask myself the question
What got me brought me into all this mess I'm swimming in
But pain is not and neither harm in the pool of bliss
So slap me with your hand or kiss me with your softest kiss
Tell me that you love me or that you don't like me now
Tell me you invite me or that you don't want me around
I won't cry over a world that can't change my life
I'll put my money on what lies ahead in Paradise

Chorus
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
I wanna go to the valley of the King
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
Wanna see the birds fly and I wanna hear the angels sing

I try to do right and love my wife and trade and pray and talk
I can be anywhere, do anything, and I'm mindful of God
I'm pleased in good and happy in harm and now I realize
That I already live in a land called Paradise

Chorus
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
I wanna go to the valley of the King
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
Wanna see the birds fly and I wanna hear the angels

I wanna live in a land called Paradise
I wanna go to the valley of the King
I wanna live in a land called Paradise
Wanna see the birds fly and I wanna hear the angels sing

I wanna hear the angels sing...

I truly do, and I want to hear the angels sings while wearing gold, pearl and silk on me! Do you want to, too, my brothers and sisters?

I am sure you do! :))

Friday Reflection: Secret Eighteen from Life is an Open Secret Ramadan Special: Motivational Story about Perfect Supplication Time during Ramadan

Bismillah

As Salaamu 'alaykum and peace to all,

Friday Reflection: Secret Eighteen from Life is an Open Secret Ramadan Special: The Perfect Time for Supplication: A Motivational Story about Perfect Supplication Time during Ramadan

Today is Friday, 14th Ramadan 1430H, alhamdulillah. So, as promised, here is another Secret for you from me taken from my latest book, Life is an Open Secret: Ramadan Special.

And I have picked out Secret Eighteen (from 25 Secrets) to share with you in this post, inshaAllah.

As usual, my request is for you to share with your family and friends this post without changing or editing any part of the post, inshaAllah. :))

Now, for this Friday 14th Ramadan 1430H, this is my gift to you...

Secret Eighteen : Perfect Time for Supplications

~ He fishes well who uses a golden hook ~ Latin Proverb

“I called her several times but no one picked up the phone,” said a friend of mine one day when I asked her if she managed to get hold of an old friend.

“Really? That's odd. What time did you call her?” I asked.

“Well, I don't have the time during the day, so I always try calling her after office hours, about 7:30 pm,” she told me.

“No wonder you can’t get her. She usually reaches home at about 9 pm Sis. You have to call a bit later!” I told her.

“Ahhh… that explains why the phone just keeps ringing and no one answers”, she said.

Has this incident ever happened to you before? Well, it has happened to me not once or twice but more than I would care to remember.

Knowing the right time to call someone would mean that we have higher chances to get our calls answered, right?

This conversation I had with my friend had suddenly made me realize something significant.

Really significant!

During this blessed month of Ramadan, we are given the exact time when we should make the 'phone calls' to our Lord, Allah the Almighty and He, the Almighty promised to answer!

Okay, I don't mean in the literal sense of phone calls but you know what I mean, right?

So, do you want to know when this exact time is? Well, just look at the hadith of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) below,

"There are three categories of people whose du`aa' (supplications) will not be rejected: the person who observes the fast until he breaks, a just ruler, and the person who has been wronged." (At-Tirmidhi)

Subhan Allah… isn't this great? Is it not great to know exactly the time to ask for our heart’s desires from Him?

It made me think.

If this is the time we should be making loads of Prayers, shouldn't we be in silence during these moments, asking in our hearts His help, His assistance, His blessings, His abundance, His mercy, His love, His forgiveness and His aid for all our problems and issues in our personal, career and family affairs; instead of being busy pouring drinks, scooping food, arranging seating positions, asking everyone to sit down, talking and even laughing away?

Wouldn’t that be a total waste of an opportunity?

Don’t you think it is Simply Fabulous that we know exactly when to ask Him so that we would get what we want? A timing of when our prayers will not be rejected? A timing when all our dreams may very well come true?

Definitely, right?

Talking about timing, I remembered Ecclesiastes (3: 1-8) once said something wise,

"There is a right time for everything:
A time to be born; A time to die;
A time to plant; A time to harvest;
A time to kill; A time to heal;
A time to destroy; A time to rebuild;
A time to cry; A time to laugh;
A time to grieve; A time to dance;
A time for scattering stones; A time for gathering stones;
A time to hug; A time not to hug;
A time to find; A time to lose;
A time for keeping; A time for throwing away;
A time to tear; A time to repair;
A time to be quiet; A time to speak up;
A time for loving; A time for hating;
A time for war; A time for peace;"

Now, let us ask ourselves again, my dearest brothers and sisters: when is the perfect timing for us to ask Him all that our hearts desire?

Yes, you are right!

Just about the very moment we are about to break our fasts.

Absolutely!

And let us ask ourselves another question- are we going to use this golden opportunity given by our Lord, Allah the Almighty, during the last precious 5-10 minutes before we break our fast to pray to Him; to supplicate to Him and to ask from Him to fulfill our needs; to solve the problems that we face; to protect ourselves and our loved ones from harm; to forgive us for our mistakes; to bless us with a good marriage and spouse; to have faithful and successful children; to make our affairs easy; to pass us in our exams; to have good friends and companions; to give us peace and contentment; to allow us entrance to His Paradise; to make us His faithful servants; to protect us from Hellfire; to save us from punishments in the grave; to bless us with good knowledge; to shower us with wealth and abundance; to provide us with good health and to make us successful in this life and Hereafter?

OR are we going to be busy asking everyone to sit around the table, pass the food and drinks, still be cooking in the kitchen, talk about the traffic we faced on the way back from work and maybe discuss world politics?

Which ones are we really going to do my brothers and sisters, in the last 10 minutes of breaking our fasts?

Ya Allah, it is now 15 minutes before the time to break my fast.

Please excuse me everyone. I have to make a bus load full of requests to my Lord who will only say YES to me.

See you after iftar!

Oh, wait a minute… you say something?

What? You say you want to join me?

Definitely, the more the merrier! Come on now…let’s do this together…

Favourite Videoclip: Ramadan 101 by Yusuf Islam: Motivational Clip about Basics of Fasting

Bismillah

As Salaamu 'alaykum and peace to all,

Favourite Videoclip: Ramadan 101 by Yusuf Islam: Motivational Clip about Basics of Fasting

That day, I was hanging out with one of my dearest friends and I was asked to explain to her what Ramadan is really about. Being a non-Muslim, she was very curious to know why Muslims willingly go thru '30 days of hunger', as she put it, and she wanted to know why.

I absolutely love the opportunity to share the whatever little that I know.

So, I started explaning the basics of Ramadan like why Muslims fast, when fasting first made compulsory, other Prophets like Prophet Moses(as) and Prophet Jesus(as) who had also fasted, the physical, emotional and spiritual benefits of fasting; and not forgetting the impact of fasting on individuals, families and society at large.

As I was explaining to her, I began to realize the truthness of the words of Isocrates,

To teach is to learn twice.

Absolutely! As I was talking, my brain started to venture into ideas I have never thought about before, subhanAllah!

At the end of our chat, I promised my dearest friend to send more information about Ramadan via her email.

So, I went back home and started researching, and this was when I found this wonderful videoclip by Yusuf Islam or famously known as Cat Steven, explaining the basics of Ramadan in such beautiful manner, subhanAllah.

Let me share the videoclip with you... I called this videoclip Ramadan 101 :)

Till then, salaams!
Sis Zabrina
